Further Employment Details

Prior to 1997, when I was first given a permanent contract with PGL Travel, my employment with them had all been seasonal. This was due to the seasonal nature of children’s holiday centres, and thus gave me time to travel or take up temporary employment: bar work, shop work and as a chef. This gave me the opportunity to meet a large number of people with a wide range of experiences and backgrounds. I gained a large amount from these short periods of work – especially in the areas of differing management practices, working methods, styles of management and attitudes to staff and customers.

During my year travelling in Australia (1991) I worked at South Molle Island Resort in the Whitsunday Islands, Queensland (Bar work) and the Matson Plaza Hotel, Cairns, Queensland (Housekeeping work) for 3 months each, limited by the conditions on a Working Holiday Visa.
